Burned- Chapter 3

Aphrodite kept running out into the foggy field untill her muscles all over begged her to rest. ” I did that.” Aprodite said to herself. Still horrified of what she had done she decided to put her hands in her hoodie pockets. As she rose from resting on the ground she realized that she didn’t know where she was. She was surrunded my a chilling fog that made her skin shiver.

Begining to panic, Aphrodite started calling out for help. ” Mason! Anybody?! Help!” After about ten minutes of begging for help she fell to the ground, feeling a sudden lump in her throat. As soon as her first tear hit the humid soil, Ahprodite was blinded by a bright, white light.

“Aphrodite, it is I, Athena. Goddess of reason, wisdom, warefare, and peace.” Her voice was so soothing that immediatley Aphrodite was able to stand on her own two legs without stumbling. ” Aphrodite, you may be very scared and confused at this moment. I understand that you must be afraid of what you have done. But don’t worry my chid. For I will teach you the ways to control your blessing.” Aphrodite could see Athena now. Although her beauty was too much to comprehend for her weak mind, she could feel the love and care emenating from Athena’s glow. ” How am I able to do this? I don’t know how this happened.” said Aphrodite her hair in her face with a soud of confusion yet calmness in her voice.

“Poor Aphrodite. You, Aphrodite, are the daughter of a goddess that lived long ago. Before even I was conceived. Her name was Xyla ( Ex-i-lah). She was the goddess of fire before she was killed by the evil wrath of Maru Mahn. The ruler of the ancient underworld. Your mother saved you from his horrid ways and raised you as her own. When Maru Mahn gained enough power to rise from the underworld, he entered your mothers kingdom and tried to kill you. Your brave and selfless mother shielded you with herself, and was drained of her power by Maru Mahn. You then fell into a deep sleep, causing you to stay your newborn self for thousands of years.” The silence between the two fell so deep that Aphrodite was scared she’d be lost in her endless boggle of thoughts.

There was one question that kept surfacing the waters of Aphrodite’s mind: “How did I get on earth?” Aphrodite asked without even filtering the question through her brain.” I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it to come out disres-” Athena put her gently placed her finger on Aphrodite’s mouth as a sign to calm her down. ” You came to be on this earth when I sent you down here fifteen years ago. You would not wake from your deep slumber, so I had the idea that maybe a mothers genuine love could awaken you. Your mother and father we’re having trouble conceiving a child, so I placed you in their warm hands and told them what I am telling you at this moment. They fell in love with you the second you caught their eye.”

Athena’s calm tone made her words seem as though this were just a casual conversation, but Aphrodite started to realize all of the difference there were between her parents and her. This wasn’t the right time to be thinking those thoughts Aphrodite told herself.” Aphrodite, your powers have risen to the surface at such a young age. That means that Maru Mahn is planning on coming back to try and take the thrown of the over world. You will now have to start intense training to be prepared to defeat him. It may seem like you are not the chosen one, but you are Aphrodite. Believe in yourself.” Aphrodite now has the responsibility of all of earth in her fiery fingertips. ” Athena, how will I train?” Aphrodite asked. “Come to the foggy section of the football field everyday after education time.” Aphrodite was guessing Athena mean “school”.” Okay. Thank you Athena.” Aphrodite said with weary words.

Suddenly Aphrodite hears shouting and yelling coming from behind her. The fog starts to diminish and Aphrodite gains her sight of what’s surrounding her. It’s Mason calling for her. How could she forget a voice like that? Mason spots Aphrodite on her knees, messy hair and all. ” Aphrodite! I’m coming!” Mason came running towards where Aphrodite was. As soon as Mason came to her side Aphrodite fell into his arms wanting to let go of all this information in exchange for some rest. She was very weak. Mason noticed that she looked pale, either with wonder or horror. ” Aphrodite, don’t ever do that. What happened to you? I spent the last 15 minutes searching for you.” He was holding her, trying to help her gain her stability so she could possibly stand on her own. “Xyla……..world….in….danger.” Those were the only words Aphrodite had the strength to pull from her vocal cords. ” C’mon, let’s get you to the nurse. Lunch just finished.”
